Introduction to Dinner in the Main Dining Room (MDR) on Icon of the Seas

The main dining room (MDR) on Icon of the Seas is located mid-ship on decks 3, 4, and 5. Both traditional (a set time each night) and “my time” (flexible) dining is available. The same dinner menu is offered regardless of which you select.

What dinner times are available in the main dining room on Icon of the Seas? There are four different set dining times (meaning you’ll show up for dinner every night at the same time and will have the same table, table mates, and servers) on Icon of the Seas:

5:00 PM
6:30 PM
8:00 PM
8:30 PM

You can also opt for “my time dining,” meaning you can show up for dinner any time between 6:30pm-9pm. With this option you will not have the same table or servers each night.

When are formal nights on Icon of the Seas? Formal nights (also called “dress up” nights) are are night 2 (French Night) and night 6 (The Royal Night).

Today’s Bonus Cruising Tip

I ALWAYS buy travel insurance (especially during these uncertain times) to cover my cruises, but I NEVER purchase it through Royal Caribbean. It costs more and usually covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like travelinsurance.com to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!

Would love to know how you get one of the 6:30 set dining times. When I called Royal they told me they were only 5:00 and 8:30.

Thanks for posting these. Very helpful in my upcoming Icon planning. I usually booked through Travel Guard and when you purchase within 15 days of making your reservation you can add Cancel for Any Reason
