Princess Rolling Out New Vegan Menus

A vegetable dish with text that reads: Breaking News. Princess Cruise Line Rolling Out New Vegan Menus!

Princess Becomes the Latest Cruise Line to Offer Vegan Menus

The demand for plant-based food offerings at grocery stores, restaurants, resorts, schools, and…on cruise ships has continued to rise. So, while a welcome announcement for vegan cruisers (or those who prefer to eat mostly plant-based for health reasons), it comes as no surprise that Princess is the latest cruise line to announce it is rolling out new vegan menus (you can see the new vegan menus on Carnival here). The new 100% plant-based menus will be available in the main dining rooms and are currently rolling out across the line’s fleet of 15 ships, although no specific rollout dates by ship have been released.

It isn’t completely clear if the new vegan menus will be available to everyone each night in addition to the regular menu, or if those wishing to order from them will need to make special arrangements in advance. A press release from Princess on October 2nd stated: With nightly menus served in the main dining rooms, guests can request the vegan options prior to their cruise—via the Cruise Personalizer, through their travel agent or by calling Princess—or once onboard. This seems to suggest that special arrangements will still need to be made in advance (which has always been the case for vegan cruisers). We’ll see (please share your experience to the comments if you’ve sailed with the new menus)!

In the meantime, my favorite vegan cruising joke followed by some of the items to be featured on the new vegan menus…

Q: What vegetable does the vegan captain never allow on her boat?
A: Leeks!

Yum! I am not vegan or vegetarian although I lean towards vegetarian>. I would choose these dishes in a heartbeat. I hope they put them on the menu as regular options.
