“Prime Big Deal Days” Bargains For Cruisers October 8 and 9 2024

After well over 50 cruises under my buffet pants ranging in length from one to twenty-one nights to locations all over the world from Alaska to Antarctica, I’ve found that most items you’ll find on popular cruise packing lists are totally unnecessary and just lead to clutter, additional stress, and extra expense. Same goes for the majority of items I see on widely circulating Amazon Prime Big Deal Days lists. Now, of course, everyone is different and we all have our own unique needs and circumstances, so I encourage you to browse those other lists of discounted cruise essentials too. But here are five items I bring on every cruise, offered at deep discounts during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days on October 8 and 9, 2024:

1. Sea Sickness Patches

Sadly, I found out on my honeymoon cruise that I’m prone to sea sickness, so I always bring a pack of these motion sickness patches on every sailing. They are natural and can be placed behind your ear or on your stomach. Coupled with some ginger chews or lozenges (should I feel any queasiness coming on), they work great for me. During Prime Big Deal Days (October 8 and 9), you can score a 24 count pack for $11.99, saving $20%.

2. Portable Phone Charger

The last thing you want is for your phone to die right before an orca breaches feet in front of you on your Alaska cruise (consider that autobiographical). You’ll also want to keep your phone charged in airports, on long flights, etc. There are a number of great Prime Big Deal Days deals on different models of portable chargers (depending on what kind of phone you have) HERE. The model pictured above is 20% off, priced at just $19.99 for a 2-pack during October Prime Big Deal Days.

Depending on the age of your cruise ship (newer ships tend to have more USB outlets), you may also want to pack a extra cruise ship approved (meaning it does NOT have a surge protector) outlets like:

That one is 46% off during Prime Big Deal Days.

*Note that Royal Caribbean recently implemented new restrictions on multi-plug outlets, so double check what’s allowed before you buy.

3. Water Shoes

I’ve used water shoes on most of my cruises and the few times I’ve forgotten to pack them, I’ve regretted it (trust me, a visit to the medical center to retrieve a shard of glass from your heal is not anyone’s idea of cruise entertainment). Those pictured above are over 60% off during Prime Big Deal Days.

4. Travel Clock

There are no clocks in cruise ship cabins and you do NOT want to be that person who shows up to the dining room 15 minutes after breakfast hours are over begging for some decent coffee and eggs benedict. Sure, you could just look at your phone, but it might be plugged in far away from you or hard to find in the dark. That’s why I always pack a travel clock. The one pictured above is priced at $11.89 during Prime Big Deal Days (15% off).

5. Clip Fan

Whether to keep cool at the gym (I clip mine to my iPad so I can watch Netflix while I peddle slower than a drunk sloth on a recumbent bike to justify constant cruise binging), for white noise to help you sleep, for air circulation in your cabin, or to keep you cool on your balcony or at the beach, I strongly recommend packing a small rechargeable clip fan like the one I have pictured above, on sale during Prime Big Deal Days for $17.59 (20% off).

Bonus Items

I don’t personally use packing cubes, over the door organizers, magnetic hooks, or luggage tag holders, but I know many who swear by one or all of these items. If interested, here are some deals on those too:

You’ll also find some fabulous deals on luggage if you’re in the market for a new piece or set.

Happy shopping and cruising! And with that…

Class Dismissed!

I ALWAYS buy travel insurance to cover my cruises, but I NEVER purchase it through a cruise line. It costs more and often covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like travelinsurance.com* to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. Just enter your travel dates, total travel costs, and answer a few basic questions about yourself and quickly and easily see all your options. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!
