Carnival Movies December 2024

“Dive-In Movies” are one of the things I love most about cruising on Carnival. So if you’re booked on a Carnival cruise for December, be sure to grab a bag of popcorn (note there is a $4 charge for popcorn), some buffet desserts and a coffee or adult beverage, pull up a lounger, and enjoy a flick at sea! Here are the movies that will be shown on the large outdoor screens (and at indoor venues on some ships without the outdoor screens) on Carnival cruises embarking the last week of November and December 2024. Note that not every movie will be shown on every sailing. To see when specific movies are playing on your cruise, check your daily printed Fun Times schedule or the Carnival HUB app.

Following the 2022 summer blockbuster phenomenon of Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, which earned almost $1 billion worldwide, the biggest global animated franchise in history now begins a new chapter as Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carrell) and Lucy (Oscar® nominee Kristen Wiig) and their girls–Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan)–welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. Inside Out 2

2024, Kids & Family/Comedy/Adventure/Animation, Rated PG

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out–but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety.”

2023, Kids & Family/Comedy/Adventure/Animation, Rated PG

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black), is called upon by destiny to… give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. That poses a couple of obvious problems. First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position. Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar® winner Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm. So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Golden Globe winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox who really gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable. In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.”

2024, Musical/Comedy, Rated PG-13

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“BFrom the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.”

2024, Comedy/Action/Drama/Romance, Rated PG-13

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“A stuntman, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”

2004, Kids & Family/Holiday, Rated G

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis (“Forrest Gump”; “Cast Away”) reunite for “Polar Express,” an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.”

2023, Kids & Family/Fantasy, Rated PG

Description (Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes):

“Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish” is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force–a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe–the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico–to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.”

Today’s Bonus Cruising Tip

I ALWAYS buy travel insurance (especially during these uncertain times) to cover my cruises, but I NEVER purchase it through Carnival. It costs more and usually covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like travelinsurance.com to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!

Want to know which theme parties your Carnival cruise is going to have?

Homework (10 points): Share to the comments which movies you’re most looking forward to seeing on your Carnival cruise!
