Cruise Humor

Single and interested in a free one-month Princess cruise?

Are you single and looking to mingle?  For a month on a luxury cruise ship?  For a chance to find love and, better yet, win some cash and a free cruise?

CBS and Australia’s Network 10, along with Princess Cruise Line, just announced a new reality dating show, The Real Love Boat, that will throw singles looking for love together on a Princess cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

According to the press release:

THE REAL LOVE BOAT brings singles together to cruise the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship while looking for love. Destination dates, challenges and surprise singles will test the couples’ compatibility and chemistry. Like the beloved original scripted series, the indispensable crew members including “captain” and “cruise director” will play pivotal roles in the matchmaking and navigation of the romantic (and sometimes turbulent) waters ahead.

After almost a month at sea, only one winning couple will make it to the final port and take home a cash prize plus a once-in-a-lifetime trip courtesy of Princess Cruises, the series’ exclusive cruise line partner.”

It’s possible that this news just prompted me to consider divorce after 10 years of marriage.  That is until I thought about what some of the challenges might be. I keep imagining dramatic episode promos like these:

  • On tonight’s episode, Prof. Cruise must share an inside cabin with a virtual stranger while they both suffer a bout of sea sickness!
  • Prof. Cruise’s challenge will be to transport, in bare feet and during rough seas, two glasses of champagne from the pool bar up a flight of stairs to her date, waiting in a romantic clamshell.  Will the couple toast or will Prof. Cruise be rushed to the medical center to the song “Walking on Broken Glass.”
  • Prof. Cruise will go hungry tonight, because when she shows up to the dining room with her love interest, she learns that he forgot to make a reservation on the OceanMedallion App.  Will their budding relationship survive?
  • Tonight Prof. Cruise will be paired up with the winner of the hairy chest contest for couples’ karaoke!  Only love songs allowed!
  • On tonight’s episode, after a relaxing day at port, Prof. Cruise and her date will watch their ship pull away as they sprint down the pier yelling, “Does this mean we’ve been voted off the ship?”

I think I’ll just keep cruising with my husband.  But I can’t wait for this show!  And maybe I’ll see YOU on there getting seduced by the Captain to test your loyalty.

Never mind, I’m back in!

  • On tonight’s episode Prof. Cruise gets disqualified from the show after she’s caught sneaking out of the Captain’s quarters in the wee hours to place a call to her secret husband to announce that their relationship is over.

(Those who follow my blog know that my dream is to marry a cruise ship captain and that Mr. Cruise entered into our marriage fully briefed on that fact.)

And with that…

Class Dismissed.
