Today’s Bonus Cruising Tip
I always buy travel insurance to cover my cruises, but I never purchase it through a cruise line. It costs more and usually covers less than policies you purchase on your own. I go through sites like travelinsurance.com* to compare plans and prices and get the best deal for the coverage I want. It’s a simple process – just enter your travel dates, total costs (including hotel, airfare, and cruise fare), and some basic information about yourself and see and compare quotes. Spend less on insurance and spend more on excursions, special onboard cruise experiences and…future cruises!

Homework (10 points): Learn about the Princess cruise packages (Princess Plus and Princess Premier). And be sure to post your experience with or any questions you have about OceanNow to the comments.
Also, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog (scroll up to the top right if on a computer or keep scrolling down if on a mobile device) and follow Prof. Cruise on your favorite social media sites:

Thanks so very much for the extremely long post. I appreciate your effort and time. I also enjoy your humorous writing style. This information will assist us in choosing between plus and premium. Enjoy your next trip and wishing you, your adventurous son, and understanding HAPPY CRUISING!!!
Thank you! Happy cruising to you too!
I so appreciate this extremely detailed explanation. One 2-part question remains…with the $15 per drink package, is there an additional service or tax applied to the listed cost of the drink? and, if the drink cost over $15, is your account charged just the amount that exceeds the $15 with added tax/service charge?
If your beverage costs under what your package covers, there will be no additional service charge applied. However, while docked at port in some areas (most U.S. ports, for example), you WILL have to pay tax on the retail price of each beverage ordered even if it’s covered under your package. Usually bartenders will remind you of that, but if you’re ever unsure, just ask them. As for your second question, yes, you will only be charged for the amount that exceeds the $15. So you can order anything above $15 and just pay the difference. Hope that helps! Happy cruising!
I paid for plus in feb 2023 booked cruise in 2022 and now in April 2023 drink prices changed?
Seems just a bit like car dealership trickery?
Are there seltzers? Like high noon/white claw/ truly’s? Or zero sugar options for soda?
