Beware of the Cruise T-Shirt Scam

A bunch of cruise shirts with text that reads: Cruisers Beware: T-Shirt Scam!

Because custom shirts have become very popular among cruisers, a new scam trying to take advantage of this trend is running rampant through cruise roll-calls, boards, and Facebook groups. Here are some examples of what the posts and shirts look like:

A t-shirt with a photo of the Carnival Spirit that says, "Carnival Spirit."
A t-shirt with a photo of the Norwegian Getaway that says, "Norwegian Getaway."
A t-shirt with a photo of the Carnival Sunshine that says, "Carnival Sunshine."

This is not a legitimate company (and these shirts violate copyright laws). DO NOT click on or order a shirt via these links. If you see a post like this in one of your groups, please warn your fellow cruisers and alert your admin so they can remove it. It makes me sad and angry to see people taken advantage of in this way, but hopefully we can prevent this shirt scam from spreading further.

If you’re going to order a special shirt for your cruise (a funny shirt, matching family shirts, a shirt identifying you as part of a roll-call or other group), be very careful to vet your source! Here are some tips:

  1. Only order from established companies you’ve heard of (Amazon, VistaPrint, directly from your cruise line, etc)
  2. Read reviews
  3. Make sure there’s a satisfaction guarantee and/or easy return process
  4. Avoid ordering shirts (or anything else) posted to Facebook or roll-call groups

And with that…

Class Dismissed!

Here’s another scam for cruisers to be on the lookout for:
