Carnival Takes An Ax To Popular Seaday Brunch Menu
In another effort to cut costs and increase revenue, Carnival has taken an ax to the popular Seaday Brunch menu:
Items no longer offered on the Carnival Seaday Brunch menu as of Oct. 1, 2022 include:
Chia Seed Pudding
Aft Deck Burger
Cantina Burger
Brunch Spaghetti
Fettuccine
Pancetta Scambled
Frittata
Mediterranean Salad
Salmon Super Food Salad
Signature Tower
Honey Butter Biscuits
Coleslaw
Crinkle Fries
Peel and Cut Shrimp (extra charge)
Garlic Crab (extra charge)
Sadly, three of my favorites are on the chopping block: the Fettuccine, Signature Tower, and Chia Seed Pudding.
But Brand Ambassador, John Heald, Hopes You Won’t Notice
But in classic “look over here, not over there” fashion, instead of acknowledging and explaining the cuts, on September 28, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald took to Facebook to laud the return of Flamin’ Tomato Soup:
The other day we were all talking about our favorite soup. Some of you made a few comments about one of the soups that you missed and I sent those to my colleague and senior board Richard at the mothership.
Anyway, you will I hope be very pleased to know that from October 1 we will return the match missed Flaming Tomato Soup to the brunch menu.
Cheers
In other words, “That’s not blood, it’s tomato soup!” Now don’t get me wrong, I love John Heald – mostly because his spelling is as bad as mine and he loves cruising almost as much as I do (almost). But this felt a bit like “toxic positivity.” Like, just level with us John. Here, let me attempt to fix your post:
Carnival stock is in the shitter and shareholders are pissed, we’re short on crew, and we’re dealing with lingering supply chain issues. We need to cut costs and raise revenue. Hence, the many recent cuts and changes. We’re really sorry – it sucks. But I hope there’s still enough to love about Carnival (and the Seaday Brunch) to keep you coming back. And hopefully brighter days are ahead! Cheers. P.S. We’re bringing back the tomato soup because we can make a giant batch of it for almost nothing and half of you will need to send your clothing out to be laundered after eating it. Cha-ching!
Anyway, in fairness, I really do love that tomato soup and there were a few additional items added to the menu:

Thankfully several items I love have lived to see…the inside of my stomach (be warned, it gets pretty crowded in there on a cruise): the Mac N’ Cheese, Skillet-cake, 7 Layer Chocolate Cake, and Yogurt Parfait:
While I’m far from a Carnival loyalist (what can I say, I like to cruise around), I haven’t given up on the line just yet.
And with that…
Class Dismissed!

It’s interesting that Carnival is upfront (sort of) about the cuts they’re making. Princess (we are Elite) has been cutting and no announcements, no apologies…just a list of the “benefits” that are left.
Ugh, that’s so frustrating. I wish all the lines would be more upfront and transparent about cuts and changes. What are the recent cuts on Princess? I’m booked on the Discovery for early next year. Best to prepare myself, I guess!
If you’re Elite, no more: loyalty bonus (we were just hitting $50), free internet (50% off instead), more limited discounts in stores, there are others but can’t recall at the moment.
On our most recentcruise, we were in a suite (first & last time). We didn’t get 1/2 of the promised amenities of a suite. Not sure if it was cutbacks, supply chain or the steward. We had to ask the steward for the few things that we did receive. Got some, didn’t get others.
In the big picture, it’s not that much. But they promise and then take it back.
At least they (mostly) don’t charge for room service…yet.
I’d be pretty upset if I paid huge money for a suite and didn’t get the amenities! I’m really hoping Princess doesn’t start charging for room service. OceanNow, and the huge selection of complimentary food items, is one of the things I love most about the line. We’ll see…
After several cruises (on other lines) I just discovered that as a Carnival passenger, I have to choose between morning or evening room “pickup” – No line that I’ve cruised with in the past year had us make a choice.
You don’t have to pick just one. You can check both boxes (assuming they still give the form for you to fill out), or just tell your steward.
